Concierge Primary Care Provider Veronica Max UPHC Austin, TX Clinic

Meet Our Founder, Veronica Max

Founder, nurse practitioner and mother of four Veronica Max brings more than eleven years of family and functional medicine experience to UltraPersonal Healthcare.

Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Veronica attended Samford University in Birmingham, AL where she studied biochemistry and played Division I basketball. After graduating, she was drawn to Austin by the warm temperatures and active lifestyle. She enrolled in Texas Tech’s accelerated nursing program, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While working in neurology, oncology and trauma at Brackenridge Hospital, she completed her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Veronica is board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. In 2019, Veronica was awarded the Austin Area Advanced Practice Nurse Excellence Award.

Veronica founded UltraPersonal Healthcare in 2019, aiming to create a quality of care, service and experience that she found missing in the modern healthcare system.

At an early age, Veronica realized that the modern medical paradigm was flawed. Struggling with acne as a teen, she was handed prescription after prescription that did not work and caused uncomfortable side effects. Intuitively, Veronica knew that the food she ate impacted her skin and was puzzled when the dermatologist denied any relationship between nutrition and health. While the dermatologist's prescriptions didn’t work, a holistic approach to her health did.

What started as a quest to optimize her physical body and athletic performance in her teens and twenties blossomed into a journey home to herself in her thirties. This road was paved with the excavation of childhood trauma and reconnection to three decades of unfelt emotions–and she witnessed first hand the profound impact this had on physical health.

Through these life experiences, Veronica has come to realize that the predominant medical paradigm, though good in places, is even more incomplete than she initially thought. She realized the mind and body are not separate, but intertwined, and that one cannot heal the physical body by only addressing the physical contributing factors. She believes one must often address the emotional and spiritual components for full healing to occur. Healing requires a conscious decision, a team of complementary healers and someone who’s walked the path to help you navigate the way.

Wherever you are in your journey, Veronica meets you and utilizes her decades of education and experience in the realms of modern western medicine, nutrition, functional medicine, quantum biology, polyvagal theory, somatic experiencing and a sprinkle of motherhood to help you heal yourself.

Yes, you read that right - YOU are the only person that can heal you. UltraPersonal Healthcare is your guide.

When not helming the ship and seeing patients at UltraPersonal Healthcare, Veronica spends her time on her homestead in Dripping Springs with her husband, Tucker, and four children - Bishop, Vaughn, Deacon, and Cardinal. While she still enjoys the occasional Crossfit class (mostly for the community) and lifting heavy things, she now prefers to put that effort to use outside at her homestead - whether that means helping her husband put up a garden fence, picking up rocks from the pasture, spreading mulch, herding sheep, planting, or moving firewood. Veronica believes an important part of being healthy is living close to the land, playing in the dirt and in the sun, and growing/raising as much of your food as possible.

Interesting Facts About Veronica:

  • Having worked in hospitals, Veronica is terrified of being a patient in one.

  • When she was pregnant with her first child in 2013, this fear led her to the midwifery model of care and home birth - a heretical idea as the daughter of an OR nurse. After watching The Business of Being Born, she knew this was the right option for her.

  • Veronica gave birth to all four of her children at home, in the water, with the assistance of her husband and midwife, Monika Stone. These experiences were beautiful, transformative and deeply healing.

UPHC Austin, TX Clinic Director of Client Experience Tyler Burgard

Meet Tyler Burgard, Director of Client Experience

Tyler coordinates the many needs of our patients - from scheduling appointments, to providing helpful resources, and making sure your questions get answered in a timely and compassionate way. Tyler is often the first person to jump in and help out.

Raised in Southern California, Tyler comes to Texas via upstate New York (where her husband Jeremiah was stationed for 4 years in the Army). Now in the Reserves, the couple relocated to Waco, Texas in 2019 to be closer to family.

Growing up with 6 siblings, Tyler has a natural love for children and caregiving. She looks forward to starting a family of her own soon, and working remotely for UltraPersonal Healthcare has given her the flexibility to do meaningful work in the world while also being at home with her future children.

When Tyler’s not working, she’s likely surrounding herself in nature by the lake, going on hikes with the dogs, fishing, or paddle boarding with her husband.
